Wanderer Weekly #37 – Dalai Lama

It’s week 37 of the intrepid journey of the wandering hippie, “Stevie Wander”, exactly fifty years ago.  This week we find him heading to Mcleod Ganj to hopefully see the Dalai Lama.  McLeod Ganj is the home in exile in northern India of the Dalai Lama and the central Tibetan government administration.  He has been living here in exile since 1959 when China took over Tibet.  Stevie and his friends are able to attend an audience with the great man.  After a few words in the Tibetan language, the meeting ends.  Come hear more about this once-in-a-lifetime adventure in India, while on the Hippie Trail.

Stevie Wander

Co-author Steve Reifman celebrates the 50th anniversary of the ultimate hippy trail journey. His adventure, the inspiration for the book Wanderer co-written with F.T. Burke, took him across four continents through 26 countries in 1970-1971. Now, on the Golden Anniversary of his adventure, Steve Reifman – or “Stevie Wander,” as he likes to be called – tells the true tales behind the story.
