Then I secure a ride to Graz, the first real city in Austria. The driver drops me off at the local hostel. I register for a couple of nights.

I love it in Austria. The endless choice of great foods is incredible. However, it’s another rainy overcast day. The prospects of hitching are too much of a hassle in this weather. I extend my stay a couple more days.

I’m sitting at the counter in a restaurant in Graz. This is my last meal before heading to the train station. A small television sits on a shelf in an alcove above the cash register. It’s been a year since I’ve seen a TV.
